Assembling the Funky Pestilent Swarm.

I have been assembling miniatures when I get time from my Pestilent Swarm Box set.

Putrid Blightking Champion: these miniatures are amazing. There are at least a dozen heads and about 10 different bellies and multiple arms including right shield arms. This is just a pic of the champion, the Musician is a little tinkerbell, he is adorned in bells, is wielding a giant bell and has a bell suspended in his stomach cavity. Glorious Nurgle.

Morbidex Twiceborn, there is so much detail on this miniature, I can't wait to paint him. The Maggoth mount's head and belly, a pair of arms and the rider's torso are the different pieces available other than the core. It will definately make 3 ignificantly different models, which will be cool, once I get around to the other 2.

Plague Drone Champion: I picked up another 3 Plague Drones in the Pestilent Swarm box set and started adding bits for the command from the Blightking leftovers, of which there were a lot. This dude has the scythe and the Nurgle fish head, which kind of seemed out of sorts for the blightkings box but then again maybe not.

'twas the night before Inepticon

Only 1 more sleep to go and will be attending the fluffiest tournament ever.

Tournament pack, Army lists are here and so are round 1 matchups.
http://kapitiwargamesclub.blogspot.co.nz/2014/12/inepticon-lists-and-round-1-pairings.html

I'm going up against Bo again. I always have fun playing against Bo. He is an awesome sport who is always there to have fun. Bad news is he brought a White lion bus with Banner of the World Dragon, Good news is I brought not daemons. Goblins to smash the squishy elves. We've started the requisite facebook smacktalk and it got heated.

I've had a look at the minor objective cards Nick has put together and they look fantastic. Top secret cards like Big Game Hunter, Tax Collector. We're gonna have some great looking tables, free food. They're maybe some munchkin and there is a BBQ on Sunday.

Plus there are prizes or medals; 1st, 2nd, 3rd, sports, painted and Earl of Cardigan.

Nurgley goodness from across the sea.

I recently picked up a great deal from the funds generated by recent trademe auctions. The Pestilent Swarm
I recieved them from ebay store discount games for $225 including shipping, GW price is $365 and individually they add up to $454. Nice bargain there considering the exorbitent prices. I do want another 2 Maggoth Lords and the Glottkin though, and maybe another lot of the Putrid Blightkings Sprues as they are my favourite models in this release cycle, they are such a treasure trove of bitz.

Once I've assembled them I've decided to run a theme list as my previous end times list I played against dorfs was rather nasty. This list would include warriors, beastmen and daemons and all of the miniatures from the Pestilent Swarm box set. Plus Gutrot Spume.

Morbidex Twiceborn and the Pestilent Swarm.

Morbidex Twiceborn 385
Gutrot Spume 250

Herald of Nurgle, Battle Standard Bearer, Wizard level 1: lore of Nurgle, Greater Gift

30 Gors of Nurgle with additional hand weapons and full command
27 Plaguebearers with full command

4 Nurglings
4 Nurglings
5 Putrid Blightkings with Full command, Banner of Swiftness

5 Plague Drones, Plague Proboscis with full command.

No Beasts, that's right, you heard me, no Beasts. All I have to do now is assemble them. Half the fun. Love it.

Nurgle versus Dwarfs in the ruins

Matt is an up and coming Dorf player just joined our club. He has some awesome painting skills and we've been running some games. I got invited over to his place on the weekend to have a look at his basement gaming setup. He also has some scenery printing business on the side he's trying to promote.

http://instagram.com/printablescenery

The Dorfs stare nervously across the battlefield. The walls and castles are printed scenery. Only the tower isn't.
Top down view of the action.

Nurgle in all it's glory; Blood and pestilence spread by the grandpap of disease.

The stalwart dorfs.

Pincer movement of Epidemius, Furies and GUO to avoid unfortunate cannon accidents in first turn.

Iron drakes and Cannon defend the hill.

Beast has the flank all to himself. These guys can handle themselves, I've had single beasts kill Orc warlords, Unkilleable Chaos BSBs, Stonehorns. Daemon Princes, and countless infantry.

Nurglings in the forest. These Varmint aint your normal woodland creatures.

Kill pile at end of second turn. Both generals killed each other. Stupid daemonslaying rune.

Beasts are fast. I had one unit of 6 of them chewing though the thunderers. The rest of the Plaguebearers walking through the forest after the

Gyrobomber hits beast twice without scattering and the Beast saves both much to Mark's chagrin. He then charges and gets cutdown by the Iron Drakes.

Epidemius and Plaguebearers eat into the Hammerers. Tzeentch's will had taken off more daemons than the hamerrers had at this point.

Plague Drones start eating the longbeards, the cannon crew are overrun by beasts after the beasts chew through the thunderers. The big unit of plaguebearers faces down the other unit of hamerers.

Nurgle Cleaning up what's left.
At the end of the battle only the Gyrobomber and 8 Iron drakes survived the pestilent massacre, I'd lost my GUO, all my furies and a handful of casualties from every unit to double 1 result on reigns of chaos table. We ended up talking about more effective dwarf tactics after the game and how he possibly should have castled in on of the corners and provided better support as I was able to take on his guys one at a time.

Portable Fenn's Table update 2

So I managed to squeeze in a few half hours here and then to getting some painting done. Black basing and grey and white highlighting for the rocks and slate and some green basing on expanses for the grass to go over. I'm looking at water effects for the marshy area and adding reeds and shrooms and maybe some skeletons in the marsh (oh wait that's lord of the rings) all the mistakes will be covered in flock or static grass. The large flat areas are mostly for terrain pieces I've got planned for various systems. The trollbloodcentric ones will come first.

The whole board is coming together quite well. Masking tape on the edges to avoid getting paint on the rims. I will need to sand some of it off though.

Closer look at one of the paths. add a little bit of grass and flock here and there and it will be magnifique.

And the other side, it looks like a well worn road.

The marshy area, going to fill up close to the edges with darkened water effects.

Close up of the corner, looks great with the graduated highlighting and drybrushing.

Portable Fenn's Table

So I've started to build a portable Trollblood's Fenns Table. Ideally this will be suited to Warmahordes, small games fo Warhammer, Malifaux, Wrath of Kings and any other Fantasy styled skirmish game. I've used 5mm ply and 19mmx65mm pine for support and surrounding framework. A couple of hinges, handles and catches and voila. Now I've made the structure I've just got to do the scenic base and stain the framework and backside.
Display table with cork and my special 50/50 crushed pumic beach sand mix and 1 bottle of PVA later.

Path of Hirst Arts molded pavestones ends in the middle, there will be a small stream probably running through the middle.

And the other side. Corkboard jutting up against the path.

This is going to be a marshy area. I will likely add some more sand and paint before adding some water effects clear resin.

Hinge support and nice strong hinges.

Most likely have nice grassy expanses in these areas. The cork will be grey slate.

Another top down view of the road.

And the other side

The whole table contained and locked. Looks good if I don't say so myself.

And a picture of the whole thing, can be put away for use and carried in the car boot.

The underside. Contemplating adding some material to cap the end to make it look pretty.

Dark Vengeance Cultists as Necromunda Cawdor Gang

It's been a long time between updates, I am back and I will be posting more. Have been rather busy with lots of other stuff. I've decided to clear off my painting table and start painting one thing at a time as for the past 6 months I've had 3 painting tables full of miniatures waiting to be painted fully, most of them are about 60% finished, so expect lots of updates. First off the rank is my Necromunda Cawdor Procies from Cultists from the Dark Vengeance sets. I love these Miniatures and they fit really well in Necromunda, I only wished they release a multipart kit for these guys.

Then there is my cthulhu giant for my Nurgle Chaos Warrior army.  The great thing about Chaos is you can do tonnes of fun and easy conversions. The head is from a Reaper miniature and the rest is from the GW giant I picked up on trademe on the cheap.

I am also painting my Trollbloods at the moment as I'm playing in another league at the club. Just have to finish the details and finish painting the Tartan. More pics to follow once I'm finished. Hopefully get some reenforcements soon.

I'm so excited. Out of the wilderness of 40k shite and pointy ears finally something real to sink my teeth into.

Basing Ogres and unfinished Warrior project.

It's been a while since my last update and I've been playing trollbloods for Warmahordes and giving my Ogres a bit of a run with Warhammer Fantasy.Lost most of my games so far. Yay!
Firebelly = Reaper Fire Elemental.
Basing my ogres in cork and PVS+Sand. Have to wait for a week to get more primer.

Basing the rest of my trolls for my Warriors/Orcs & Goblins... and need even more primer.

My boy decided to organise how much Chaos warriors stuff I have. So I took some pictures. There is a giant, a daemon prince, a chimera and 20+ trolls missing at the moment from those pictures. Too many Chaos warriors (80+)
Chaos 1
Chaos 2

Chaos 3

And then there are a couple of towers I'm working on using my Hirst Arts Molds.
Large tower
Smaller tower.
