Paragon of Decay - 2nd Nurgle Legion - Round 1

The mountain pass rumbled with doom, a Great Nurgle Legion was approaching the blighted lands of the Vampires. Hasurkil the Harvester of Entropy had decided the undead horde of Valter Harkon was to be cropped. Too long had the undead flesh stayed the hand of decay and entropy. The Grandfather was guiding the scythe of Hasurkil to reap the undead scourge.  The Undead were today an obimnation that had to be eradicated. Life had to bloom again so it could decay.

So I played Nick in round 1 and wiped out his Vampire blender lord undead army and took one of his mountains.

I had bad dice rolling this game and only got one spell off, however mitigated this with manoevreing of DP and Chimera. Most of the game I had the ascendancy so didn't have to suffer the Scorn of Chaos which was great. Nick sucked his BSB down a hole and killed his blood knights with the aoe and left my DP swatting at the air. The beasts were again the stars of this battle, they lasted forever and did exactly what I needed them to do. My BSB (appropriately named after the battle because he was made of fail) was crap, rolled 12 and then 10 for my break test on my Nurgle Marauders who ran and got mowed down by the Black knight bus. Plague wind finished most of them off took the last wound off the VC general. Blood knights die really easily and is most satisfying with every wound they take.

 

In the Aftermath my Chaos Warriors got promoted to a regiment of renown and gained Stubborn, So they're now called the "Warriors of Eternal Lesions". Bad ass if you ask me.  I might sit tight on my 3 Mountains and delve next round. Get some of the good gold and maybe some armour for my GUO.

Things seem to be rocketing off at the moment, I managed to get no less than 8 Games in the last week.

Played Dawn Attack and managed to bottle the Vampire counts in a corner.  Seekers are absolutely horrible to play and died easily to a black coach.

I basically fed her vampire unit chaff so I could Hold the objective with my Plaguebearers who got to the objective in turn 2. Hex wraiths kept on scythign through the building. I lost more than she did but rolled a 6 for Watchtower on 4th turn and took home the goods.

This is a Brutal list which shredded through most of her army and eventually killed the Vampire bus Fern had rolling. Pretty much a battle for the pass secnario as well so not a lot of manouvering could be done.

Took the above list and fairded really badly due to artillery. The standard of sundering blocked all the dreaded 13th attempts. Must block skitterleap and doom rocket because that is pants.

Cut down to 3 Bloodletter hordes and GUO. Proceeded to take sever advantage of Nick's abysmal dice rolling and

Took the above list and my GUO didn't manage to kill . The res to fo Bloodletter hordes died badly.

GUO died to gateway first turn. The rest of the game was spent not moving whilst Hamish moved his troops slowly across the table. I almost accounted for his Knights, and 2 units of 5 Skullcrushers. 'nuff said.


I may need to take Billy the blood thirster and bunker my HoTz in a large anvil of Horrors. I need an all comers list.

So finally got around to a storm of magic game last night. I ended up taking:

Battles are looking a lot better at the club with new scenery.

It was a fairly brutal match which didn't see much close combat. Hilarious moments included 3 Screamers beign charged by unit of zombies who melted away in the boiling river and then being charged by another unit. Grave guard getting crystal mazed in the first turn as well as all wizards on both sides getting turned into frogs. Cockatrice ate necromancer on one of the Fulcrums. Zoat getting sniped by Lord of change and death spells on fulcrum in the middle. Dragon ogres getting wiped out by Bloodletters, ghouls getting wiped out by bloodletters. Dragon Ogres suck. I won. First Storm of Magic for both of us. Very fun and a little insane.

This is all in preperation though. 

I'm honing in on using big blocks of Bloodletters to the effect that when the teams tournament is in February I'm looking at...

How Brutal?

The Tzeentch Herald with light is there to buff the Bloodletters. I might take Furies instead of one of the fiends but otherwise

It's simlar to Mike King's list but with a better Greater Daemon and fiends instead Screamers. I have to practice more with it and get my spellcasting and movement more decisive.

VC Giant Gribblies and Khorne Daemons painting update and CW news

We're in full on painting mode at the moment. Missus has been painting more on her big VC gribblies and they are coming up a treat. I'm still trying to decide which one I like the best and wishing I could paint them now.

I'm also finishing the rest of my Khorne daemons now that I've done the Twilight sister's Dragon. Left to go I only have 20 Bloodletters and 13 Flesh hounds(14 -looking for the other, think it's in my stripping pot). I greenstuffed their gaps, basecoated all the gaps and inked them last night. I really dislike seeing the Blooletters with a line across their foreheads, this really annoys me, almost as much as opening the moustrap game for my son and not letting him play with it until I had cleaned off all the flash. The rocks are going to be giant warpstone, so black with green/white highlighting like the weapons.

And some Chaos Warriors news...60 point rare Jugger Knights at T5 and 20 pt special marauders on steeds of Slaanesh. The Juggers give me more hope that my Bloodcrushers will be reduced in cost and uppped to T5 because at the moment they are hopeless.

VC work in progress and gaming day at home

So we had a bit of a gamin' day Labour day holiday here. I wrote up eight 1000pt armies for the kids and neighbour to game with. We played three 1000 point games with Daemons beating VC, Tomb Kings beating Orcs and Dark Elves drawing against Daemons.

Father's Day at the Local Club

So finally went down for a few friendly games at Kapiti Wargames Club. Got to play a game and so did the missus. So stole some pics off their blog and reposted for posterity. I used my daemons and I must say, the new screamer rules are quite nice.  I will get some more for my pure Tzeentch daemon list.

Got the little dryad's birthday dragon in the mail on Friday. I have started assembling and more will be done tonight when the little angels are asleep. So I will post picks when I can of this little project. I've put my Daemonettes on hold for a little while and going to put together some blood letters. I may need even more of them at some stage for a 'letter MSU army.

I'm going to try for a pure Khorne Daemon list probably next time. I'm not really a fan of Blood Crushers, so still might drop a unit of hounds for some and boost the other 'letter units.

First Daemonettes and Zombie Dragon

 So a bit of an update, Started the colour scheme and have 6 daemonettes almost finished. Liking them a lot. Arms keep falling off a fair bit for some reason.

Assembled Fern's Zombie Dragon, definitely is a paint as you go miniature. Although the miniature wording maybe wanting as it's about 6 inches tall.

A couple of pics of armies that I need to get around to.

Beastmen: 2 units of 25+ Gors, 30+ Ungors, 10 Ungor Raiders, Jabberslythe (Reaper Jabberwocky), 2 little GW baby jabberwockies (counts as Spawn) another 6 spawn, a converted Ghorgon and a few characters (Morghur, Khazrak and Malagor). Also there is 10 unassembled Bestigors. The plan is to buy another 2 battalions, find some proxy razorgors, a Minotaur bus (you herd me, haha) and 2 Chariots.

Chaos Warriors: this is gonna be a big army with a lot of marauders, but I'm gonna wait for October when the new Chaos Army book is out. Hopefully I'll be finished my Daemons by then.

....And the next big project will be to build 1 or 2 more cabinets to fit our minis as this one is overflowing. My dad built it for my 21st over 10 years ago. Yep it's filled to overflowing.  From top to bottom
