Thanks Nuffle!

I've started playing Bloodbowl, having played 1 game 20 years ago and 1 last year I thought it was about time. The Festering Furuncles is a Nurgle Rotters team with some Mantic Zombies, old school 5th Edition chaos warriors and converted beastmen. Not to mention an Ancient Beast of Nurgle from the depths of time.

Festering Furuncles

Next is the Stompy Grinderz, they are again made up of old school 5th edition chaos warriors  and converted beastmen. Again there is an ancient miniature in here and it's the minotaur whose actual name is "Ox-Roar Chaos Champion of Ultimate Slaughter"

The Glottkin

Here he is. I'm almost fully happy with him. He was an absolutely delight to put together and rather individual entityx3.

Morbidex Twiceborn

He's finished, I've been recently doing a bit more work with the Nurgle but yet have not updated this blog in a long time. I present you Morbidex Twiceborn. He likes Nurglings a lot, in fact he creates Nurglings, A mini Plaguefather. I consider him the weakest of the Maggoth Lords but boy was he fun to paint.

Assembling the Funky Pestilent Swarm.

I have been assembling miniatures when I get time from my Pestilent Swarm Box set.

Putrid Blightking Champion: these miniatures are amazing. There are at least a dozen heads and about 10 different bellies and multiple arms including right shield arms. This is just a pic of the champion, the Musician is a little tinkerbell, he is adorned in bells, is wielding a giant bell and has a bell suspended in his stomach cavity. Glorious Nurgle.

Morbidex Twiceborn, there is so much detail on this miniature, I can't wait to paint him. The Maggoth mount's head and belly, a pair of arms and the rider's torso are the different pieces available other than the core. It will definately make 3 ignificantly different models, which will be cool, once I get around to the other 2.

Plague Drone Champion: I picked up another 3 Plague Drones in the Pestilent Swarm box set and started adding bits for the command from the Blightking leftovers, of which there were a lot. This dude has the scythe and the Nurgle fish head, which kind of seemed out of sorts for the blightkings box but then again maybe not.

Nurgley goodness from across the sea.

I recently picked up a great deal from the funds generated by recent trademe auctions. The Pestilent Swarm
I recieved them from ebay store discount games for $225 including shipping, GW price is $365 and individually they add up to $454. Nice bargain there considering the exorbitent prices. I do want another 2 Maggoth Lords and the Glottkin though, and maybe another lot of the Putrid Blightkings Sprues as they are my favourite models in this release cycle, they are such a treasure trove of bitz.

Once I've assembled them I've decided to run a theme list as my previous end times list I played against dorfs was rather nasty. This list would include warriors, beastmen and daemons and all of the miniatures from the Pestilent Swarm box set. Plus Gutrot Spume.

Morbidex Twiceborn and the Pestilent Swarm.

Morbidex Twiceborn 385
Gutrot Spume 250

Herald of Nurgle, Battle Standard Bearer, Wizard level 1: lore of Nurgle, Greater Gift

30 Gors of Nurgle with additional hand weapons and full command
27 Plaguebearers with full command

4 Nurglings
4 Nurglings
5 Putrid Blightkings with Full command, Banner of Swiftness

5 Plague Drones, Plague Proboscis with full command.

No Beasts, that's right, you heard me, no Beasts. All I have to do now is assemble them. Half the fun. Love it.

Nurgle versus Dwarfs in the ruins

Matt is an up and coming Dorf player just joined our club. He has some awesome painting skills and we've been running some games. I got invited over to his place on the weekend to have a look at his basement gaming setup. He also has some scenery printing business on the side he's trying to promote.

http://instagram.com/printablescenery

The Dorfs stare nervously across the battlefield. The walls and castles are printed scenery. Only the tower isn't.
Top down view of the action.

Nurgle in all it's glory; Blood and pestilence spread by the grandpap of disease.

The stalwart dorfs.

Pincer movement of Epidemius, Furies and GUO to avoid unfortunate cannon accidents in first turn.

Iron drakes and Cannon defend the hill.

Beast has the flank all to himself. These guys can handle themselves, I've had single beasts kill Orc warlords, Unkilleable Chaos BSBs, Stonehorns. Daemon Princes, and countless infantry.

Nurglings in the forest. These Varmint aint your normal woodland creatures.

Kill pile at end of second turn. Both generals killed each other. Stupid daemonslaying rune.

Beasts are fast. I had one unit of 6 of them chewing though the thunderers. The rest of the Plaguebearers walking through the forest after the

Gyrobomber hits beast twice without scattering and the Beast saves both much to Mark's chagrin. He then charges and gets cutdown by the Iron Drakes.

Epidemius and Plaguebearers eat into the Hammerers. Tzeentch's will had taken off more daemons than the hamerrers had at this point.

Plague Drones start eating the longbeards, the cannon crew are overrun by beasts after the beasts chew through the thunderers. The big unit of plaguebearers faces down the other unit of hamerers.

Nurgle Cleaning up what's left.
At the end of the battle only the Gyrobomber and 8 Iron drakes survived the pestilent massacre, I'd lost my GUO, all my furies and a handful of casualties from every unit to double 1 result on reigns of chaos table. We ended up talking about more effective dwarf tactics after the game and how he possibly should have castled in on of the corners and provided better support as I was able to take on his guys one at a time.

Horned Gobbo List - Nurgle Daemons...again.

So I did fairly well at the last tournament getting 4th out of a field of 28, It's been a really busy month so haven't painted much more of my Nurgle army. I've only changed a few things, added 1 extra beast and dropped my Nurglings plus put plague proboscis on my Plague drones and a standard to add extra boost for Blood and Glory..

Great Unclean One, level 4 Nurgle, Exalted Gift, Lesser Gift
Herald of Nurgle, BSB, Greater Gift
Epidemius
29 Plaguebearers w/ full command
20 Plaguebearers w/ full command
5 Beasts of Nurgle
1 Beast of Nurgle
1 Beast of Nurgle
5 Furies of Nurgle
5 Furies of Nurgle
3 Plague Drones, Plague Proboscis, Standard bearer, Gleaming Pennant

Again got my anvil of 29 Plaguebearers, 20 Plaguebearers as a utility/watchtower unit, an absolute tarpit and a bit of punch in 5 Beasts of Nurgle, strong punch with GUO and probable Eternal Blade, Chaff and utility with two single beasts and furies of Nurgle, and Epidemius to toughen out the army. Plague Drones are fairly strong and tough as well so will be most likely shoving them forward or towards a flank.

I really need to remember to roll to add plaguebearers for spell kills.

I'm overall happy with the list, it's an all comers army and not too cheesy, If I do the same as last tournament I'll hopefully get into masters. Just have to stay away from High Elf players this tournament and kill the rest of their crap.

Paragon of Decay - 2nd Nurgle Legion - Round 1

The mountain pass rumbled with doom, a Great Nurgle Legion was approaching the blighted lands of the Vampires. Hasurkil the Harvester of Entropy had decided the undead horde of Valter Harkon was to be cropped. Too long had the undead flesh stayed the hand of decay and entropy. The Grandfather was guiding the scythe of Hasurkil to reap the undead scourge.  The Undead were today an obimnation that had to be eradicated. Life had to bloom again so it could decay.

So I played Nick in round 1 and wiped out his Vampire blender lord undead army and took one of his mountains.

I took: Paragaon of Decay with Chaos Warrior core

Hasurkil Bloodpus the Harvester of Entropy - Daemon Prince General of 2nd Nurgle Legion.

Chaos Armour,  Demonic Flight, Level 4, Lore of Nurgle, Mark of Nurgle,
Flaming Breath, Scaled Skin, Soul feeder, Charmed Shield, Dragonbane Gem, Sword of Striking

Exalted Hero BSB - "Aaron Gilmore" of the faded white flag.

Hideous Visage, Poisonous Slime, Dawnstone, Enchanted Shield

40 Chaos Marauders with flails, mark of Nurgle and full command
20 Chaos Warriors  with Halberds, mark of Nurgle and full command
1 x Chimera, Flaming Breath, Regenerating Flesh
4 x Beast of Nurgle
1 x Beast of Nurgle
1 x Beast of Nurgle
5 x Furies of Nurgle
5 x Furies of Nurgle
Chaos Spawn (60pts) Mark of Nurgle

Nick had:
VC Blender Lord,
10 Black Knigths
VC BSB
30 Ghouls
30 Skellies
3 Wraiths
2 x 5 Dire wolves
Black Coach
7 Blood Knights

I had bad dice rolling this game and only got one spell off, however mitigated this with manoevreing of DP and Chimera. Most of the game I had the ascendancy so didn't have to suffer the Scorn of Chaos which was great. Nick sucked his BSB down a hole and killed his blood knights with the aoe and left my DP swatting at the air. The beasts were again the stars of this battle, they lasted forever and did exactly what I needed them to do. My BSB (appropriately named after the battle because he was made of fail) was crap, rolled 12 and then 10 for my break test on my Nurgle Marauders who ran and got mowed down by the Black knight bus. Plague wind finished most of them off took the last wound off the VC general. Blood knights die really easily and is most satisfying with every wound they take.

In the Aftermath my Chaos Warriors got promoted to a regiment of renown and gained Stubborn, So they're now called the "Warriors of Eternal Lesions". Bad ass if you ask me.  I might sit tight on my 3 Mountains and delve next round. Get some of the good gold and maybe some armour for my GUO.

Storm of Tamurkhan: The Paragon of Decay

So I'm running a Tamurkhan list for our campaign, without Tamurkhan because I don't have the model...yet. I will be runng 3 generals using the Tamurkhan Great hosts of Chaos and running my generals as Paragons of Decay.

My generals are;

Arcturus the Blighted -Daemon Herald of Nurgle

Hasurkil Bloodpus the Harvester of Entropy- Warriors of Chaos Nurgle Daemon Prince
He feeds on sloth and ravages of time.

Sahmmael "Papa Sam" The Bloated Father  - a Great Unclean One

I have 2 special rules for my armies touch of Destiny which grants and extra +1 Ward for my general and if general dies then all untis on table suffer a leadership test, if failed they are destroyed. So I will be taking a BSB every time.

What I've got in regards to units are listed below. I need to select a General from below and then the correpsonding core selections and BSB from the same book and then whatever else I can fit in from both the DoC and WoC books.

The last week in Gaming - May 2013

For some reason I rarely get to post on my blog when I'm off work for a week.

Nurgle Daemons

They're sitting in a naughty corner after a couple of nasty games versus orcs & goblins (Fern and Nick). Lost 4 in a row with it at the moment. Fern has a killer list with 80 Night gobbos with bows and BSB with Poison banner. It's painful. I'm working on variations without a GUO and with. I'll have to trial this list

Epidemius
HoN BSB, Level 1 Death
43 Plaguebearers with full command w/ banner of swiftness
3 x 5 Beasts of Nurgle
5 Furies of Nurgle
2 Nurgling bases
5 Plague drones w/ full command and Plague Proboscis

or

Epidemius
HoN BSB, Level 1 Death, greater gift.
43 Plaguebearers with full command w/ banner of swiftness
2 x 5 Beasts of Nurgle
1 Beast of Nurgle
2 x 5 Nurgle Fuies
5 Plague drones w/ full command and Plague Proboscis
2 Skill Cannons

or

Epidemius
HoN BSB, Level 1 Death, greater gift.
30 Plaguebearers with full command w/ banner of swiftness
20 Plaguebearers with full command
2 x 5 Beasts of Nurgle
1 Beast of Nurgle
2 x 5 Nurgle Fuies
3 Plague drones w/ standard and Plague Proboscis
2 Skill Cannons

The key is getting at least 1 General, BSB and 2 standards to compete in Blood and Glory. Epidemius will either be in a corner or near the Plague drones to benefit from Look out Sir. Or take 2 Skillcannons (of Nurgle;-) and shoot dangerorus stuff like rock lobbers, cannons and screaming bells off the board.). We'll see how it goes and whether I want to buy another box of drones.

Khorne Daemons

Broke out the pure Khorne daemons and took them to Warlords on the weekend and they faired fairly well. I ran:

Bloodthirster, 1 Greater Gift and 2 lesser Gifts
Herald of Khorne, Bloodthrone, BSB, Locus of Fury and Lesser Gift
2 x 30 Bloodletters with full command
3 Bloodcrushers
5 Flesh Hounds with ambush
2 Skill Cannons

Number of drops was amazingly short. I must say the skill cannons are much better as chariots than cannons.

Had a game against Matthew Hassal(High Elves) and Pete Dunn (Mixed Daemons -Mostly Tzeentch) and both time they faired pretty well. The throne works really well  especially nuzzled in between the two Bloodletter units. Bloodthirster was a star especially with little artillery to take him out.

High Elves

Been having a look at Highelves, I only got a few miniatures so far, but was having a look at something like this.

Loremaster of Hoeth w/Book of Hoeth and Talisman of Preservation
Noble BSB and insert magic stuff here
30 Lothern Sea Guard full command
2 x 5 Silver Helms w/ shield musician
3 x 15 Archers w/musician
2 x 3 Tiranoc Chariots
4 Eagle Claw Bolt Throwers
2 Great Eagles

Should be good for a laugh. Send the chariots  to break stuff and eagles to divert stuff and set back with the rest and shoot stuff/

Painting

So I'm currently painting Daemon Princes, Throgg, and 6 Ogres. Progress has been slow as a wet week since the Tournament. The red Daemon Prince is almost done Hamish.

All things Kickstarter: Reaper

I picked up an Ogre Chieftain and 6 Kobolds from Pukeko Games on tghe weekend when we went to Warlords games. Have reordered some primer so can primer them and start painting, the detail is marginally less than normal but acceptable for the drastic decrease in price. reaper are waiting on last 2 Containers to reach them so they can start processing our order.

Dice Rings Kickstarter

Dice rings will start shipping soon. Then we will be blinging it out with our geeky rings.

Mantic Kings of War Kickstarter

Whilst Deadzone is out am still waiting on Kings of War, I might drop another hundred on High Elves or Dorfs. Still not sure. I have some Elf sprues from the crazy games discounted box they did at Christmas and whilst being tiny wasted they're not bad sculpts. It might be just the thing to really grate on Hamish's nerves by playing with alternate models, especially since he has High Elves.

Other Kickstarters

Then it's on to Kickstarters I'm watching/waiting for. Secret Weapon Terrain Kickstarter is looking awesome and will probably end up setting me back a couple of hundred for a Necromunda runied streets board. Raging Heroes Toughest Girls in the Galaxy: this I will most certainly drop some cash on. I've been waiting for this for a long long time. Hopefully because of their delays in starting it will be awesome. All quiet on the martian front kickstarter looks cute as a button. And then there is the Robotech kickstarter.

Runefang Aftermath

Feeling very wiped out the day after Runefang. Never took the Portaloo and it even made for some fantastic cat and mouse tactics.

Drones dealing to the EOTG.

Round 1: 11-9 Vs Hamish Gordon (Skaven) Dawn Attack
Another game against Hamish. Sigh. Due to Hamish failing miserably at rolling dreaded 13th the whole game this was basically a war of attrition with me takin more points off of him and him not being able to kill Epidemius. My Furies were able to get into the rear of his army and clean up his Warp lightning cannon. Hamish fluffed most of his dreaded 13th casts which was good. We only got to round 4 and I probably would have cleaned up his bell with another 2 full game turns with my unit of beasts.  I would have had my Great Unclean one romping through into his unit of stormvermin or his bell in the final turn. My Beasts were awesome this game. I only wish it had gone on longer so I could end up with more points.

Epidimius (Survived on 1 wound)
Tally: Shiteloads of Skaven feed Papa Nurgle really Quickly.
MOTM: Great Unclean One, got the tally up early with a 20+ wound plaguewind, very nice.

Round 2: 20-0 Vs John Murrie (Dorfs) Blood and Glory
Poor John, we got the worst possible table for him and the best possible table for me. There is nothing quite like having two giant Sphinxes sitting in the middle of the table to block line of sight to Epidimius and the GUO. John castled in the middle and he got 1st turn and killed a beast with a Cannon and then it all went bad. On my first turn I charged my unit of beasts into one of his Troll slayers and then overran 11" into his big unit which then proceeded to eat the dorfs whilt they hit back with their stuff pillows. in the back yard his Gyrocopter managed to get one shot off before getting charged by a unit of furies, subsequently fleeing and being exterminated. Meanwhile Papa Nurgle was streamin up behind a Sphinx ready to get into John's flank. The Drones managed to shred a bit whilst I left a unit of 20 Plaguebearers with Epidemius hiding behond the Sphinx for the whle game. John had a really nicely painted dwarf army and was my best sports score for the weekend. Ended up on 3700 pts to 60 pts, so it was a 20-0 for me.

Epidemius (untouched)
Tally: Lots and lots of Dorfs fed the tally this game.
MOTM: Beasts, killed BSB, general, unit of hammerers, cannon and grudgethrower.

Round 3:  20-0 Vs Bo Peterson (Lizards) WatchTower
We rolled off and I got the watch tower which i proceeded to put 20 Plaguebearers in and then swap out for 30 later on. Light Magic didn't end up going very well for Bo as he ended up not being able to wound anything. the Engine of the gods I eventually ground down with my Drones and killed it without it doing much to my army.

Epidimius (untouched)
Tally: Lots and lots of Lizards died and maxed it out by turn 3
MOTM: Great Unclean one: Killing 28 Saurus and 1 Slann mage with an Eternal blade. Can even stomp Slann.

Round 4: 5-15 vs Pete Dunn (Skaven) Meeting Engagement
Pete had his Mojo on this tournament, or maybe it was just his wall of Skaven filth. It was fairly even other than me losing Epidemius and my GUO which ended up being the difference. I got outdeployed and made my GUO slug across the board to get killed on the way over the board. Need more Beasts up against Pete.

Epidemius (died on 5th turn)
Tally: Got to about 22 before epidemius died to poison shots after my GUO got poison shotted. Yay!
MOTM: bleh.

Round 5: 6-14 vs Sam Whitt (Kaos Dorfs) Battleline.
If my Great Unclean one hadn't sucked himself down a hole It would have faired a bit better, this was the one game I would have liked a dispoel scroll, losing 20 Plaguebearers to a Kaos Dorf Template of Str 5 Doom wasn't good. Although I managed to run the unit away from the K'dai preserving 800 points (BSB was in there). Managed a double 1 with one of my Plaguebearer unitss against his Bull Centaurs where I was losing combat and was able to charge a beast and win combat with them the next round, then mowed them down and evenutally he got his K'daii into my rear after I failed a charge and he rolled high for his charge.

Epidemius (untouched) in the far corner
Tally: about 24 before the end of the game. The Tauruk survived for way too many turns against my Beasts. He survived for way too long.
MOTM: Epidemius: Stood in the corner and counted.

Thoughts:

I need more beasts. Units of 5 or 6, maybe 2 units of them. They shred stuff and take nothing back.

Portaloo wasn't needed in any games.

Epidemius is very tough and makes my beasts almost indestructable. Gives me loads of Threat options for my opponent to prioritise their targets.

Nurglings were okay, they could have done a bit better.

Furies I deployed on a couple of games way too wide but they did well.

Drones didn't do much but they are very hardy. For their footprint they are kind of unwieldy compared to the much more efficient beasts. I might always go for poison on these guys and possibly one more.

I could have been a bastard and taken Skullcannons to take out screaming bells, K'daii and engine of the gods. I may have been able to win the tournament with these. But I decided to go fully themed and it wasn't too bad in the end. Managed to shatter someone's dreams (poor Kent). I feel like his Villain.

I love the Reign of Chaos table. I ended up loudly pronouncing "REIGN OF CHAOS" at the start of each of my magic phases, especially when Papa had died towards the end of the tournament. Most of the time it was good for me and I even got some added Plaguebearers towards the end of the game against Pete.

In the end I managed to get Best Newcomer and equal 4th.If my GUO hadn't sucked himself down a hole I may have ended up with 2nd. But y'know Chaos is fickle. All in all a fun tournament.
