Morbidex Twiceborn

He's finished, I've been recently doing a bit more work with the Nurgle but yet have not updated this blog in a long time. I present you Morbidex Twiceborn. He likes Nurglings a lot, in fact he creates Nurglings, A mini Plaguefather. I consider him the weakest of the Maggoth Lords but boy was he fun to paint.

Assembling the Funky Pestilent Swarm.

I have been assembling miniatures when I get time from my Pestilent Swarm Box set.

Putrid Blightking Champion: these miniatures are amazing. There are at least a dozen heads and about 10 different bellies and multiple arms including right shield arms. This is just a pic of the champion, the Musician is a little tinkerbell, he is adorned in bells, is wielding a giant bell and has a bell suspended in his stomach cavity. Glorious Nurgle.

Morbidex Twiceborn, there is so much detail on this miniature, I can't wait to paint him. The Maggoth mount's head and belly, a pair of arms and the rider's torso are the different pieces available other than the core. It will definately make 3 ignificantly different models, which will be cool, once I get around to the other 2.

Plague Drone Champion: I picked up another 3 Plague Drones in the Pestilent Swarm box set and started adding bits for the command from the Blightking leftovers, of which there were a lot. This dude has the scythe and the Nurgle fish head, which kind of seemed out of sorts for the blightkings box but then again maybe not.

Nurgley goodness from across the sea.

I recently picked up a great deal from the funds generated by recent trademe auctions. The Pestilent Swarm
I recieved them from ebay store discount games for $225 including shipping, GW price is $365 and individually they add up to $454. Nice bargain there considering the exorbitent prices. I do want another 2 Maggoth Lords and the Glottkin though, and maybe another lot of the Putrid Blightkings Sprues as they are my favourite models in this release cycle, they are such a treasure trove of bitz.

Once I've assembled them I've decided to run a theme list as my previous end times list I played against dorfs was rather nasty. This list would include warriors, beastmen and daemons and all of the miniatures from the Pestilent Swarm box set. Plus Gutrot Spume.

Morbidex Twiceborn and the Pestilent Swarm.

Morbidex Twiceborn 385
Gutrot Spume 250

Herald of Nurgle, Battle Standard Bearer, Wizard level 1: lore of Nurgle, Greater Gift

30 Gors of Nurgle with additional hand weapons and full command
27 Plaguebearers with full command

4 Nurglings
4 Nurglings
5 Putrid Blightkings with Full command, Banner of Swiftness

5 Plague Drones, Plague Proboscis with full command.

No Beasts, that's right, you heard me, no Beasts. All I have to do now is assemble them. Half the fun. Love it.

Nurgle versus Dwarfs in the ruins

Matt is an up and coming Dorf player just joined our club. He has some awesome painting skills and we've been running some games. I got invited over to his place on the weekend to have a look at his basement gaming setup. He also has some scenery printing business on the side he's trying to promote.

http://instagram.com/printablescenery

The Dorfs stare nervously across the battlefield. The walls and castles are printed scenery. Only the tower isn't.
Top down view of the action.

Nurgle in all it's glory; Blood and pestilence spread by the grandpap of disease.

The stalwart dorfs.

Pincer movement of Epidemius, Furies and GUO to avoid unfortunate cannon accidents in first turn.

Iron drakes and Cannon defend the hill.

Beast has the flank all to himself. These guys can handle themselves, I've had single beasts kill Orc warlords, Unkilleable Chaos BSBs, Stonehorns. Daemon Princes, and countless infantry.

Nurglings in the forest. These Varmint aint your normal woodland creatures.

Kill pile at end of second turn. Both generals killed each other. Stupid daemonslaying rune.

Beasts are fast. I had one unit of 6 of them chewing though the thunderers. The rest of the Plaguebearers walking through the forest after the

Gyrobomber hits beast twice without scattering and the Beast saves both much to Mark's chagrin. He then charges and gets cutdown by the Iron Drakes.

Epidemius and Plaguebearers eat into the Hammerers. Tzeentch's will had taken off more daemons than the hamerrers had at this point.

Plague Drones start eating the longbeards, the cannon crew are overrun by beasts after the beasts chew through the thunderers. The big unit of plaguebearers faces down the other unit of hamerers.

Nurgle Cleaning up what's left.
At the end of the battle only the Gyrobomber and 8 Iron drakes survived the pestilent massacre, I'd lost my GUO, all my furies and a handful of casualties from every unit to double 1 result on reigns of chaos table. We ended up talking about more effective dwarf tactics after the game and how he possibly should have castled in on of the corners and provided better support as I was able to take on his guys one at a time.

Horned Gobbo List - Nurgle Daemons...again.

So I did fairly well at the last tournament getting 4th out of a field of 28, It's been a really busy month so haven't painted much more of my Nurgle army. I've only changed a few things, added 1 extra beast and dropped my Nurglings plus put plague proboscis on my Plague drones and a standard to add extra boost for Blood and Glory..

Great Unclean One, level 4 Nurgle, Exalted Gift, Lesser Gift
Herald of Nurgle, BSB, Greater Gift
Epidemius
29 Plaguebearers w/ full command
20 Plaguebearers w/ full command
5 Beasts of Nurgle
1 Beast of Nurgle
1 Beast of Nurgle
5 Furies of Nurgle
5 Furies of Nurgle
3 Plague Drones, Plague Proboscis, Standard bearer, Gleaming Pennant

Again got my anvil of 29 Plaguebearers, 20 Plaguebearers as a utility/watchtower unit, an absolute tarpit and a bit of punch in 5 Beasts of Nurgle, strong punch with GUO and probable Eternal Blade, Chaff and utility with two single beasts and furies of Nurgle, and Epidemius to toughen out the army. Plague Drones are fairly strong and tough as well so will be most likely shoving them forward or towards a flank.

I really need to remember to roll to add plaguebearers for spell kills.

I'm overall happy with the list, it's an all comers army and not too cheesy, If I do the same as last tournament I'll hopefully get into masters. Just have to stay away from High Elf players this tournament and kill the rest of their crap.

Paragon of Decay - 2nd Nurgle Legion - Round 1

The mountain pass rumbled with doom, a Great Nurgle Legion was approaching the blighted lands of the Vampires. Hasurkil the Harvester of Entropy had decided the undead horde of Valter Harkon was to be cropped. Too long had the undead flesh stayed the hand of decay and entropy. The Grandfather was guiding the scythe of Hasurkil to reap the undead scourge.  The Undead were today an obimnation that had to be eradicated. Life had to bloom again so it could decay.

So I played Nick in round 1 and wiped out his Vampire blender lord undead army and took one of his mountains.

I took: Paragaon of Decay with Chaos Warrior core

Hasurkil Bloodpus the Harvester of Entropy - Daemon Prince General of 2nd Nurgle Legion.

Chaos Armour,  Demonic Flight, Level 4, Lore of Nurgle, Mark of Nurgle,
Flaming Breath, Scaled Skin, Soul feeder, Charmed Shield, Dragonbane Gem, Sword of Striking

Exalted Hero BSB - "Aaron Gilmore" of the faded white flag.

Hideous Visage, Poisonous Slime, Dawnstone, Enchanted Shield

40 Chaos Marauders with flails, mark of Nurgle and full command
20 Chaos Warriors  with Halberds, mark of Nurgle and full command
1 x Chimera, Flaming Breath, Regenerating Flesh
4 x Beast of Nurgle
1 x Beast of Nurgle
1 x Beast of Nurgle
5 x Furies of Nurgle
5 x Furies of Nurgle
Chaos Spawn (60pts) Mark of Nurgle

Nick had:
VC Blender Lord,
10 Black Knigths
VC BSB
30 Ghouls
30 Skellies
3 Wraiths
2 x 5 Dire wolves
Black Coach
7 Blood Knights

I had bad dice rolling this game and only got one spell off, however mitigated this with manoevreing of DP and Chimera. Most of the game I had the ascendancy so didn't have to suffer the Scorn of Chaos which was great. Nick sucked his BSB down a hole and killed his blood knights with the aoe and left my DP swatting at the air. The beasts were again the stars of this battle, they lasted forever and did exactly what I needed them to do. My BSB (appropriately named after the battle because he was made of fail) was crap, rolled 12 and then 10 for my break test on my Nurgle Marauders who ran and got mowed down by the Black knight bus. Plague wind finished most of them off took the last wound off the VC general. Blood knights die really easily and is most satisfying with every wound they take.

In the Aftermath my Chaos Warriors got promoted to a regiment of renown and gained Stubborn, So they're now called the "Warriors of Eternal Lesions". Bad ass if you ask me.  I might sit tight on my 3 Mountains and delve next round. Get some of the good gold and maybe some armour for my GUO.

Storm of Tamurkhan: The Paragon of Decay

So I'm running a Tamurkhan list for our campaign, without Tamurkhan because I don't have the model...yet. I will be runng 3 generals using the Tamurkhan Great hosts of Chaos and running my generals as Paragons of Decay.

My generals are;

Arcturus the Blighted -Daemon Herald of Nurgle

Hasurkil Bloodpus the Harvester of Entropy- Warriors of Chaos Nurgle Daemon Prince
He feeds on sloth and ravages of time.

Sahmmael "Papa Sam" The Bloated Father  - a Great Unclean One

I have 2 special rules for my armies touch of Destiny which grants and extra +1 Ward for my general and if general dies then all untis on table suffer a leadership test, if failed they are destroyed. So I will be taking a BSB every time.

What I've got in regards to units are listed below. I need to select a General from below and then the correpsonding core selections and BSB from the same book and then whatever else I can fit in from both the DoC and WoC books.

Late May's Week in Gaming

So I finished painting 2 Daemon Princes. On Thursday we played Zombies!!! at the local Club. Though not much other gaming happening other thank 40k and the campaign and the WFRP going down at the club. Still 'twas a fun evening.

Brains....
At the swap meet picked up 2 grail knights, Swan head knight and 10 metal bret spearmen, and a bunch of skaven for the missus and 40 Skeletons for my son's tomb kings (most of them still on the bone white sprues). I need to bite the bullet and buy some trebuchets for my Brets...some time.... after some skull cannons and flaming chariots and more beasts... or before... dunno... might even think of running them at a tournament, There is a bit of painting I need to do before that. Since I've stripped most of the metal it may take a while.

On Saturday I had an epic game of warhammer versus Hamish. He was popping his Empire cherry and I was playing a softer mixed list. Our games generally ends up in an argmuent over some rule or another and takes 4 hours.

Hamish took:
Archlector, level 4 light, level 2 heavens, warrior priest and BSB, 40 Halberdiers, 2 archer detachments (5 and 10), 2 great cannons,  1x 5 IC knights, 1x 5 knights, 5 chickens, 4 chickens,  hellblaster and engineeer and hurricanium.

I had:
LOC, Greater, 2 Lesser, Nurgle BSB, level 2 HoTz, 15 Horrors FC, 30 Plaguebearers FC, 5 TZ furies, 2x1 Beasts, 4 Beasts, 5 Hounds (Who I completely forgot about) and 2 Skillcannons

Turn 1

Hamish is writing up a a battle report for his inaugural post, which will no doubt be all lies and inconsistencies. Needless to say, 1 horror maintained the watchtower at the end of the game and we fairly decimated each other's armies. Hamish decided not to roll 6's except for his leadership tests. One flank crumbled in the first turn and his level 4 forgot 3 spells twice in the first turn (rolled a 10 and then 11 with forbidden rod). I got 4 beasts into the side of his halberdiers and 30 plaguebearers into the front and made them flee. At the end he had a cannon, hellblaster, engineer and 1 chicken left on 1 wound, I had my beasts plus another and plaguebearers and flesh hounds left. So ~550 points before watchtower points allocated.

Lesson's learnt:
  • Whilst Treason and glean magic are awesome, against armour nothing is better than lore of metal. turning a whole bunch of meat sacks into gold and searing pwning chickens is more than awesome.
  • Got to remember flesh hounds. The would have cleaned up his artillery and I would have tabled him.
Lord of Change still hasn't managed to assplode anyone. It will be epic when it happens.
